David Pynn

David is the Rural Dean for the Scarborough Deanery.

Fresh Expressions encourages new forms of church for a fast changing world, working with Christians from a variety of  denominations and traditions. The initiative has resulted in hundreds of new congregations being formed alongside more traditional churches. It was initiated in 2005 by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York with the Methodist Council, but now also involves the United Reformed Church and a number of other partners.

In November 2008, the Reverend Sam Foster was appointed as the Fresh Expressions Pioneer Missioner for the Scarborough Deanery. Her role is to find new ways of integrating faith into the community across the region, and to encourage people to become more involved in church without necessarily having to go to a place of worship on Sundays. Shortly after her arrival Sam assembled a team to identify and implement new ways for the church to reach out into the community. Since then, numerous projects have come to fruition, including Alpha Courses, Summer Soul Missions, Sacred Space, Labyrinths and many others.  Check out the links above to find out more.
